Now it's getting serious - Shipping the Bluebear

Although we know since ages that the shipping of our VW-bus has to be done this month it hit us all of a sudden. Literally until the very last minute Holger tinkered around with the bus to get everything ready ("tinkered" says Dorit, but Holger calls it "very last optimizations").

Definitely we felt a little friable when we left our compound in the direction of Hamburg's harbor.

For us it created a good deal of inner tension with questions like: "Did we consider everything?, Will they accept or is there anything they will complain about?, ..." But what meant tension to us was only simple routine at the harbor: get a number, fill in forms and bring the car.

Two hours later the Bluebear was gone and the only thing we had in our hands was a small receipt and report about all its scratches and dents. All in all it was much more relaxed that we expected and in the end we still had enough time for a nice coffee in Hamburg's autumn sun.

Addition (07.10.2017)

Nowadays it is possible to follow up routes and positions of planes and ships online. So we followed "our" ship the Grande Brasile day by day after it had left the harbor carrying our beloved Bluebear. Everything seemed perfectly fine until, somewhere close to Portugal's coast, the ship started to move in small sick-zacks with hardly any speed.

Normally the status given for the ship was  "Underway using Engine" but now the indicated status of the ship was  "Not under Command" . Of course we tried to find out what this means and the answer did not amuse us at all.

"Not under command" means a ship is not maneuverable anymore for whatever reason. But take a look yourselves. - ('Not under Command').

Luckily one day later everything was okay again and  we hope that now the ship goes straight via Dakar to South America.
