After several months of preparation everything including the bicycles are packed and luckily the farewell is not very dramatic. Our flight goes from Hanover via Vienna and Sao Paulo to Montevideo. Everything works well without any problems at all. Only the transport of the bicycles causes some confusion at Hanover airport.
If the check-in is already a problem, will the bicycles arrive really in Montevideo? Yes, they will. Just after landing looking through the windows of the plane we can see the boxes coming on the transport belt.
After immigrations we look for a quiet place in front of the airport building and assemble the bikes followed by several interested looks. Everything is finr, bikes are fully functioning.
Packed with about 25 kg we start our trip and it is a wonderful feeling to cycle from the airport with great sunny weather. Anyhow the 25 km to our rented flat turn out to be a challange, a
nearly 24-hours journey, 25 kg luggage and a heavy headwind amke us sruggle. But the welcome of our host is so warm and hearty that we easily forget all this while sitting on the roof-top of a
beautiful flat in the centre of Montevideo.
